Picked up my new (to me) car yesterday. Here's the rundown: I wanted something with style that could really tear it up at the track, and reliably, soooo...I started shopping for an M3 a few months ago. A couple great deals slipped through my fingers until I came across this one. '95 Dakar Yellow, with black leather interior, 5-speed. Adult, well-off owner who moonlighted as a BMWCCA driving instructor. The car has been totally set-up by Turner Motorsports (premier BMW tuner): CAI and Euro MAF sensor, ECU, bigger injectors, cams, titanium retainers-- to the tune of 253 rwhp with a stock exhaust! And, it's totally reliabel, smooth running, pulls hard, linear power band--great for the track. Suspension is totally set up as well, you can tell by the pics it's LOW. Only mods I plan are a cat-back and some euro projector headlights. Maybe some wheels. Compared to my Z: My Z was definitely faster, but this M could probably keep it close on the highway anyway--it's fast. (253 rwhp, 3100lbs M vs 374 rwhp, ~3600lbs Z). The M handles absolutely amazing, it feels like a go-kart, it would without a doubt run circles around my Z (which I thought was set-up well, and many others agreed). The M's build quality is better, but not by a huge margin--mine has 86k on the odo and it is still tight--no creaks. Engine is just getting broken in! I'm amazed at all the little amenities BMW incorporates, even in a more performance-oriented car. And it has OEM aluminum doorsills! Anyway, the pics aren't too great, but take a look:
